Similarly, certain battery chargers have been designed for use on the older batteries which otherwise would have been on their way out.

These chargers are not able to recharge a battery that is completely drained like the standard chargers are able to. At the same time, they are also not heavily focused on restoring the cells of the battery to its former state.
