The Fitbit Charge 2 succeeds the highly-rated and hugely popular Charge HR. With the introduction of the new model, Fitbit has been able to retain the best parts of the earlier generation, while also adding some new outstanding functionality. The improved notification system, being able to connect to the GPS on your smartphone for mapping your runs, and the new large screen are all welcome new additions to a device that was already very nice.
It still isn’t perfect. We definitely wish that the device was waterproof and that the heart rate tracking for intense exercising was more reliable than it is. We also wish we could return to the previous screen instead of needing to scroll back through all of the screens once again. Also, you have to take your smartphone with you while you are running if you would like to use its GPS functionality. However, overall, we do think it would be difficult to find another device that is this well-suited for most general users at this price point the way the Charge 2 is.

Flex 2 counts how many laps you have done throughout your workout, the amount of time you have been in the pool, and the total distance you have covered (you will first need to set the length of the pool in the app). Although it does not provide a huge amount of comprehensive data, it is robust and accurate be become the new best friend of the casual swimmer. It is also an excellent sleep and activity tracker out of the water and a great “put-it-on-and-forget-it” type of fitness band.
This model is a great option for casual swimmers. If you are searching for a racker that you can wear every day in the pool and outside of it, then you can’t go wrong at this price if you choose the Flex 2. If you are a dedicated swimmer, you may want to check out more expensive options such as the Apple Watch 2 or Garmin Vivoactive.

The new Fitbit Altais a stylish fitness tracker that features a small screen. Its firmware connects to the Fitbit App, and it has repackaged features for measuring your burned calories, step, and distance. Live stats and the time are shown on the OLED finger tap display. Some of the product’s other notable features include call and text notifications, calendar, and sleep monitor. The Fitbit Alta can be customized by using other kinds of bands like classic sports, metal, and leather bands. The tracker does not display heart rate, but you are able to sync with your phone.
The slim design of the product makes it look very sleek and without a bulky look. Frequently this is a trade-off with trackers that come with a heart rate monitor. It has a smooth and flat clasp that makes it more comfortable to wear, even when you are sleeping. There are three sizes: Small (for wrists 5.5-6.7 inches), Large for 5.7-8.1 inches) and XL (8.1 to 9.3 inches). One small issue that has been reported is that it has a sensitive screen. So you would need to get used to using the right rhythm for two taps a half a second apart. Lightly tap without using high pressure, quick, and erratic tapping. Overall, if you are looking for a stylish and comfortable standard fitness tracker, you should consider this model.

This fitness tracker from Fitbit is a fitness tracking tool that can be used to monitor the number of steps you take per day, your heart rate, and more. Its sleek design the main attraction. The most recent Alta HR is very slim but still contains Fitbit’s PurePulse heart rate technology. A new chip was introduced by the company for its new Altra HR and that minimized both the size as well as the number of components needed. That allows for a design that is slimmer by 25 percent compared to regular wrist trackers. There are two new sleeping features as well; the Slight Insights and Sleep stages. The heart rate sensor is used by the sleep stages to calculate how much you spend in REM, deep, and light sleep, as well as the amount of time that you spend each night awake. Sleep Insights uses the data that Fitbit collects to provide you with personalized guidance on what you can to do improve your sleep.
The battery is also outstanding. On a single charge, it can last for 7 days. The internal heart rate sensor allows you to have an improved experience by allowing you to monitor the calories burned, and also non-step exercises like yoga and spinning. The heart rate zones tell you how hard you are working when doing your daily exercises. It automatically detects or recognizes exercise like biking, running, etc. However, you cannot start workouts manually. No buttons and automatic exercise tracking there are are no on-band controls for manual use.

- Tracks your steps, distance moved, calories burned, sleep patterns,...
This model is one of the most popular and beautiful fitness trackers available in today’s marketplace. However, its popularity is based not only on its nice-looking design or the various ways that it can be worn but also for being able to provide women with an informed and simplified report about their overall health which includes monthly cycle or period, pregnancy, sleep, and activity.
This track syncs reliably and quickly although it mainly relies for its functionality on the app. This app includes meditation-style and breathing exercises. Another advantage is its ability to track your sleep and stress. In terms of looks, this tracker features a very cool design that is very attractive. In fact, the small piece looks like it is a piece of jewelry and may be worn as a bracelet, a jewelry pendant, or a clip. That allows you to incorporate it into your daily life.
For daily use, it can be used as a bracelet or clip replacement and clip it on where you are doing more intense exercising. Be aware that the tracker may unhook from the bracelet if it is jiggled while you are sprinting. That can be a bit annoying so you might want to opt for the clip or necklace instead. There are other drawbacks to the tracker besides appearance. The presentation of data and the variables included also help to technologically set it apart. However, it is only a tracker, and therefore there are no automatic pushy suggestions or reminders. In simple terms, the tracker only can tell you that you have a high-stress level but cannot recommend what you can do in order to reduce your stress.
It also tells you how many calories you have burned only during activity since it is unable to differentiate between various activities, such as bicycling or running. It basically only allows you to label and input calories during these times. However, it will not calculate the calories it has for your during the time that you say the other activity was occurring. That is to help ensure that you do not mistakenly cheat your score. It also accurately measures your well-being.
If you would like to have a fitness tracker that allows you as well to know when your fertile days whenever you are attempting to get pregnant, then select the Bellabeat leaf tracker. One of the things that we really love about it that it is more a wellness measure than just a fitness tracker, and tells you when are stressed but not what to do to stop or prevent being stressed out. It does not pop up or automatically sync notification on the app which makes things easier.
9. Withings Activité Pop | Activity and Sleep Tracking Watch
- Nokia Health is now Withings. Same products, same team, same...
This product is a wristwatch that also automatically tracks sleep, step, and activity. It comes with a very reliable replaceable battery not only because it can be used directly from the box but can continue to run for 8 months before it needs to be charged. We really love you can go showering or swimming since it is water-resistant up to 50 meters. The wristwatch syncs automatically with Android and iOS.
In terms of its design, this watch got rid of its polished steel calf leather and sapphire dome on the fancier Activite Withings watch and uses a mineral glass dome, PVD-coated steel, and a silicone strap instead, although they have almost the same features. It performed sleep-tracking and step-counting. Also, it tracks the number of calories burned. It is a Bluetooth-connected fitness tracker beyond that.
This product features a solid construction as well and has fixed an old problem dealing with the crystals shattering easily. However, it isn’t perfect yet. It still has a glitch with syncing and storing data for more than one and a half days. If you sync on a daily basis that might not be a problem for you, but it might become an issue when you are traveling. It also does not measure your heart rate. However, for a standard wristwatch, it is the closest thing there is a Fitbit-style device.
This can be your go-to watch if you would like a regular watch that also performs some semi-intelligent things such as tracking health activities. It the Swatch and Fitbit got marries, the result would be the Activite Pop.
10. Misfit Wearables S500BM0RZ Misfit Ray – Fitness + Sleep Tracker with Black Sport Band
- Vibration alerts for call and text notifications, movement reminders,...
- Smart button enabled to control connected household devices |...
- Swim proof, anodized aluminum cylinder with multicolor LED progress...
- Non-charging, replaceable batteries last up to 6 months
- NOTE : 1 Misfit Ray can only be linked to 1 account at a time
This is a great accessory that offers a wide range of styling accessories, sleep tracking features and unusual futuristic design. It is not an obvious tracker and its subtle design allows you to dress it up or down as you desire.
Most fitness trackers are not very stylish. Manufacturers for years have primarily focused on functionality, with the design part being mainly just an afterthought. Although that is fine for athletes and sports who spend their lives inside of a job, that may not work as well for people who would like their wrist to have something more stylish on it. But actually, the recent trend has been moving towards the opposite, with style being the focus instead of function. It appears that Misfit Ray has been able to find the ideal balance between a sporty wristband and a fashion accessory.
This model is the ideal choice for somebody who is looking for a stylish yet simple activity tracker. However, it does skimp when it comes to functionality. It still comes with all of the basic metrics, which include being able to measure your swimming and sleep tracking. There are a ton of accessories that are available which makes it very easy to style any want you want.

If you already workout regularly you may think that you do not need one of these trackers. If you run or lift weights, then you probably already know that you have to consistently challenge yourself and your body to achieve optimum results. Perhaps you are already running 5 miles every day, but you would like to increase your running distance, or maybe you would like to push yourself harder to get rid of that stubborn fat around your things and your abs.
The right fitness trackers can help you run faster and push yourself harder. In fact, most of the latest models feature expert workouts and fitness tips. Even better, you are able to customize each goal so that they are attainable and realistic, which will also help you to stay motivated. For example, if you failed to lose weight over a given week, check on the stats that the fitness tracker stores where you can evaluate where you might have skipped out on a workout or where your activity levels dipped, or when you took in more calories than you actually burned. These are important stats that you will assist you in staying on track as well as motivation to keep on pushing harder.

You can also use these apps to connect with other users where you can get tips on what you may be doing wrong. You can also use the app to compete with or challenge other users. These are challenges which are highly motivating for many people.
Fitness Tracker Styles
Today there are so many different styles of the fitness and activity trackers available, which is mainly due to the increase in people that have chosen to get active, live healthier lifestyles, and to consume diets that are free from processed foods. The style of tracker that you choose needs to match up to your activity level, your lifestyle, and your goals for fitness or losing weight. It should also match up to the activities that you enjoy. For example, if you jog, run or walk, you should be looking for the models with GPS tracking features, which will assist you in mapping your routes out. Some models are preloaded with routes that are already in the area that you reside in.
Syncing Activity And Workout Level Data

With the latest models, you won’t have to bother with having to deal with apps to track and monitor your progress since most automatically sync with your Smartphone through Bluetooth. If not, there is usually an option to plug into a PC manually using a USB cable in order to upload data daily or weekly.
Buyer’s Guide: How To Choose A Fitness Watch For Women?
1. Style and Design
First, let us start by knowing where you can where your fitness tracker. Below are the most common ways one can wear a tracker:
- Wrist – this is the most common style of wearing the tracker
- Clipping on shoelaces or clothes
- Worn around the neck as the pendant
- Under a headband
Which is the best place to where the fitness tracker? Well, the best place to wear the tracker is on the wrist; and there are 2 main reasons for this?
- It can track your heart rate
- You get many options when it comes to choosing a good tracker
Furthermore, a fitness activity tracker that is worn on the wrist offer added benefits of acting as a watch.
If you prefer keeping your wrist free for some reason, then you do have other options. However, it is important to remember that you will have to sacrifice some features. Some fitness activity trackers can be pocketed, clipped on the shoelaces, bra, or belt. They do still work very well, but they are a little bit inaccurate compared to those worn on a wrist.
In a nutshell, we recommend choosing the most traditional wrist-worn version. If this is not an option for you, then you should know that the other options do not offer heart rate monitoring option or sleep tracking. Some clip-on trackers can still be slipped into a watch strap and then worn on a wrist. Doing this will make it easy for the device to track your sleep.
2. The Screen
Another thing you have to consider is the screen. In other words, do you need a display or not. However, you have to remember that many trackers do have screens. A fitness activity tracker can either fall under one of three categories:
- Screened Trackers – These are trackers that have a display, which you can use to see your fitness data and time
- LED or Indicator trackers – This is fitness tracker with indicators mostly LED. The indicator shows your progress and notifies you on your goal
- NO Display – These are Fitness activity trackers without any display or indicators. These types of trackers come with a smartphone app that shows your results.
The biggest advantage of investing in a screen version is the ability to display time as well as fitness data, without the need of using other devices. Its limitations are cost and decrease battery life. For this reason, you have to consider what you want.
LED indicators are best for those who do not need to look at the time. They are only designed to monitor one metric (often step count). With a glance, you will get an estimation of how far you are at reaching your goal.
3. Heart Rate Monitoring
The heart rate monitoring is a relatively new feature, but a great addition. In the past, athletes have been using real-time heart rate monitoring, but chest straps had to be used. It is important to note that chest straps are the most accurate way to get heart rate information. However, today, one has the ability to monitor their heart rate with wrist-worn trackers, and they have become popular.
Heart rate monitoring offers four primary benefits when it comes to a fitness plan. The benefits include:
- Makes it easy to know if you are on your targeted heart rate zone
- It makes calories burning data a bit accurate
- It gives a person the power to track their heart rate while resting. Many people consider this as the main health indicator.
- It makes sleeping tracking accurately. This is because the device relies on heart rate rather than depending on movements only.
These modern fitness activity trackers use a process known as photoplethysmography to measure the heart rate. The process uses green LED to project light into the blood vessels, in order to detect any changes in blood flow. This technique helps provide an acceptable result. The only limitation of a heart rate monitoring feature is that it consumes battery power. A majority of HRM enabled activity trackers will need charging at least once every few days; unlike simple designed activity trackers that can go for months without needing charging.
4. Water Resistance
If you are the person who spends much of your time in and around water, then you should consider investing in a waterproof device. Even though many of these devices are waterproof (they are waterproof to a certain degree), there are those that are fully waterproof and better than others on the market.
Before purchasing one, it is wise to look at either of the two ratings – The ATM or IP.
ATM (Atmosphere) Rating
ATM is an acronym for ‘atmosphere,’ and it is a rating that is used to indicate how well a device can handle water. An instrument-rated 1 ATM is said that it can handle water pressure depth of up to 33 feet (10 meters). Therefore, a tracker rated 5 ATM can handle water of 50 meters in depth. However, the sad truth is that a device rating test has been done under ideal conditions, and the numbers do not translate well in real life.
As a matter of fact, devices rated 3 ATM are not considered swimming friendly, but you can go to a shower with one. The best swimming rated device should have 5 ATM or more. It is important to always check manufacturers guidelines before jumping into the water.
IP rating and ATM rating are not the same. The IP rating measures a device’s potential protection level against solid objects. It is a rating that is widely used on consumer electronic devices, and the International Electrotechnical Commission developed it. The chances are that you have seen this rating on one of your electronic devices but not known what it is. The most common grades are IP58, IPX7, and IP67.
The first number represents protection against solid objects, and the second number indicates protection level against liquid. If by chance the solid protection level has not been included or measured, then it will automatically be replaced by an ‘X.’ For example, a device with an IP58 offers limited protection against solid objects, but excellent water immersion protection.
These devices are the best at counting the number of laps and even identify stroke technique; with these ratings, they can also be used during swimming sessions. However, if you are looking for underwater monitoring, then it would be wise to look for proper sports watches.
Many of us know that GPS stands for Global Position System, and the main use is to tell a device its current geographical position. For this reason, for those looking for accurate distance information, then they should look for a fitness tracker with this feature. Today, a majority of these devices come with inbuilt GPS sensor so that one can track the distance. If yours does not have a GPS sensor, then the device will estimate.
The good news is that you can also use your smartphone while using a compatible app. This will give you the power to not only map your workout but track your progress. Well, if you do not want the hustle of always using your smartphone’s GPS, you should then invest in a device that has GPS.
What are the benefits of having GPS in your fitness active trackers? Well, they offer:
- Accurate Distance Tracking – GPS is the only way to get the correct distance
- Speed and Pace – The good thing about GPS is that you can easily track your speed or pace, which can be used to analyze your workout
- You do not need a Smartphone
6. The Cost/Price
A standard fitness watch that only tracks steps averagely costs between $75 to $100. The cost of a device will increase with the number of features available. In other words, a fitness activity tracker with walking, running, and GPS, and other outdoor activities will take you back about $100 to over $250. In a nutshell, an expensive watch is more accurate in terms of distance, speed, and data.
7. Daily Use
Do you want a fitness watch that you will use only for every day walk? Then the fitness tracker is the best for you. However, if you are looking for a watch for regular use in hiking, running, or cycling, then you should consider investing in one that has GPS. In other words, you should identify the reason you want to use the fitness tracker for and get one that is best for you.
8. Size and Weight
Basic fitness activity trackers do not weigh much, and of course, they are simple devices. However, watches that have more features and long-life batteries will weigh more and tend to be bigger.
9. Brand Ecosystem
Remember, every brand uses its app and software. Each is unique, and they generally do the same thing. Because of this, it is important to note that if in future you change one brand with another, it may be difficult or challenging to move your data to the new software. This is something that you should consider when buying a fitness watch.
While considerably less important in the broad scheme of things, there are some other things to consider when choosing a tracker for you. Some of the additional features offered by select fitness trackers can be very beneficial to your precise exercise needs. Here are some of the most significant options out there:
One nice feature available on some models is a notification that will inform you via vibration, tone or caller ID displayed on the screen when a call or message is being received. This is a nice touch because you can keep an eye on your communications without missing a beat and not have to worry about missing an important call.
This will be different depending on the device you use. Some devices seem to go months on end without needing battery replacements and some will need to be connected to the power very day. Much has to do with the amount of features being offered and the use you will get from each one. Figures As Guidelines
You will get many facts and figures from your tracker, but don’t take these as rock solid. When you see calorie consumption feedback take the information provided with a grain of salt because you will probably find discrepancies if you compared this information to an actual laboratory analysis
Don’t Clutter your Mind with Inconsequential Statistics
Only track the statistics you actually need to track according to the goals you need to reach. Then take a look at your overall results on a weekly basis.
Lifestyle changes can provide many benefits to improving health and increasing capacity for physical output. If your tracker has a daily activity tracker, use it to identify the times of greatest inactivity so you can begin making precise adjustments –– but not too many at a time.
Set Specific Goals
Goals are important to your overall goals but they need to be used as stepping stones to carry your efforts higher. Use your information to approximate what you can regularly expect from yourself week to week. Then use this information to make long, medium and short term goals for yourself. Measurable attainable goals are the keys to success.
Measure Your Goals
You can’t set broad goals open to vague interpretations and hope you will get impressive results in any specific time frame. For example, “lose weight” is a good healthy goal, but in the long run not specific enough. By making specific goals about the exercise you hope to use and the amount of exercise you need to achieve your goals of weight loss, you will greatly increase your chances of success.
Planning Your Meals
As mentioned earlier, many of these fitness trackers will come with a feature that can help you track your eating habits for maximum energy and efficacy in improving health. A meal plan will allow you to choose the most beneficial meals for your upcoming menu plan. Sometimes you will have to enter the meals in after you eat, like if you eat out. But if you can begin planning meals ahead of time you have more control over cravings and a better chance to say no to unhealthy snacks.
The Number of Steps Taken Shouldn’t Count as Your Exercise for the Day
If you have set a goal to get more exercise each day, you have made progress toward achieving your goals, but don’t cheat and include the total steps you take each day count as your exercise. Everyone should be taking 10,000 steps each day. Focus on accomplishing this as well as getting in anymore steps during your regular half hour of exercise that you do three or four times a week. Being more active and choosing to walk more instead of relying on a car is an important part of starting a healthier life, but it can’t take the place of regular exercise.
