Checklist for Camping in a Motorhome

Before your trip

  • Booking a campground (RV Park / Campground);
  • Checking the itinerary and height / weight restrictions;
  • Downloading offline maps (in case of no connectivity);
  • Check weather;
  • RV registration and insurance;
  • RV inspection (tires, lights, brakes, leaks);
  • Fueling with fuel, water and propane;
  • Permits, if needed (e.g., to enter national parks).

Equipment and tools

  • Extension cord and power adapters (30/50 AMP);
  • Drinking water hose + filter;
  • Wastewater hose (black and gray tank);
  • Level gauge and RV leveling pads;
  • Repair kit, duct tape, tools;
  • Flashlight, spare batteries;
  • Gloves for RV maintenance;
  • Jack / tire puncture remedy.

Indoor amenities and hygiene

  • Bedding, pillows, blankets;
  • Towels (shower, kitchen, beach);
  • Toilet paper (for RV), paper towels Hygiene products (soap, shampoo, toothpaste);
  • Cleaning supplies and rags;
  • Bucket, brush, garbage bags;
  • Air freshener/toilet odor remedies;
  • Disinfectant and first aid kit.

Kitchen and food

  • Gas/propane for stove;
  • Pots, pans, knives, boards;
  • Cookware and Cutlery;
  • Food storage containers;
  • Sponges, dish detergent;
  • Bottled water / filter;
  • Condiments, salt, oil;
  • Refrigerator: food and beverages;
  • Snacks, freeze-dried food;
  • Thermos / mugs / thermo bottles.

Camping equipment

  • Camping chairs and table;
  • Canopy / awning or awning;
  • Insect repellent;
  • Solar panels (optional);
  • Front entrance mat;
  • Garlands, lanterns, candles;
  • Games, books, cards;
  • Grill / brazier + charcoal / gas;
  • Firewood and campfire permit (if needed).

Clothes and shoes

  • Weatherproof clothes (raincoat, windbreaker);
  • Hiking and camping shoes;
  • Hat / cap and sunglasses;
  • Swimsuit / water towel;
  • Nightwear and comfortable home clothes;
  • Extra socks and underwear;
  • Gloves, scarf and warm jacket (in season).

Electronics and communications

  • Chargers (12V, USB, external battery);
  • Navigator / smartphone with maps;
  • Powerbank;
  • Wi-Fi router or mobile hotspot;
  • Portable speaker (optional).

If traveling with a pet

  • Food and bowls;
  • Pet bed/carrier;
  • Veterinary documents;
  • Toys, leash, waste bags;
  • Flea/tick medication.

Before leaving the parking lot

  • Disconnect water, electricity, waste hoses;
  • Empty and rinse tanks;
  • Check retractables and awning;
  • Close windows, hatches, lockers;
  • Clean everything outside and inside;
  • Check fixtures and mirrors;
  • Make sure nothing is forgotten.
